As a society, we cannot afford to continue to neglect maternal wellness
In the United States, upon discharge, mothers are on their own, with little support beyond their immediate families and communities. New mothers are expected to know how to take care of a newborn’s every need—from lactogenesis to burping, swaddling and rocking—all in a fevered state of sleep-deprivation. Along with the relentless caretaking demands of early motherhood, womxn are navigating overwhelming hormonal changes; adjusting to an evolving identity; and recovering from the physical and psychological trauma of pregnancy and childbirth.
Sanhu House provides a system of care that is evidence-based and research-backed. We work with a community of practitioners, including nurses, doulas, and doctors, to design a care plan that prioritizes your health and wellbeing.
