What does motherhood look like to me?
Honestly, motherhood looks like compromise quite a lot of the time. I want my duaghter to see me thrive but also at somepoint my daughter to understand there are times at which I survive. I’m trying grow for her and trying to help her grow, and those combinations are not always easy. When we talk about taking care of others it’s more about the sense of mothering as a collective word. It’s collectively mothering each other. When I bring adovocates together , or raise money, or raise awareness it’s asking society to mother our mothers. And it doesn’t mean you need to have birthed a human and it’s nothing to do with gender in my eyes. It’s more about this collective empathy for other human beings.
